My sister had made me create an account long before Facebook became popular in Turkey. (Actually, I am almost sure that I am one of the first Members from Turkey).
I had only 3 friends, all from USA, for a long time. Then with a huge wave of friend requests, number of my Facebook friends increased. (now it is almost stopped).
Now I see a similar trend for Pinterest. Again with my sister’s orientation I had became a Pinterest member. I did not have any Turkish followers until recently. Day by day I see Turkish people, mostly women, became followers of my boards.
Only difference is that, Facebook was more of a young people’s choice whereas Pinterest is mostly a female arena.
